Toddler Behavior

Toddler behavior is a child’s response to a lack of limits. Consider what limits you’ve set for your son, and how those limits are enforced. Make sure your son knows what’s expected of him, as well as the consequences of poor behavior.

Toddler behavior is acceptable because he’s a toddler, at what age do you plan to start teaching that actions have consequences? Here may be a good example for parents. Perhaps you’d like your son to clean up his toys at the end of the day. When you ask him to do so, remind him that picking up toys is his job. Then clearly state the consequence of not picking up the toys, such as losing access to a prized toy for a day or two. If your son doesn’t pick up his toys as asked, follow through on the consequence.

Toddler behavior is complex, and dealing with these tiny people on a daily basis is exhausting. It is impulsive, impatient and emotional of the toddler behavior but adult behavior is deliberate, non-reactive and patient. A bump on the head will results in giggles one minute, or streams of tears the next. Predicting their actions is virtually impossible. Toddlerhood comes after parents have been parents for a couple years. By this time parents have developed the patience that is necessary to parent a toddler.

You can imagine if you have a daughter. You will understand that toddler behavior is really very interesting from a sociological standpoint. When she would ask to do something and you’d say “no” and give her a reason why, she would start crying and yelling that she wanted to do it, throwing herself on the floor in a dramatic flop.

Toddler behavior is critical to your child’s personality development. As a parent, you are in a very unique position to influence that behavior. Understand that your child takes on after you - her model. It’s quite important to be able to communicate well with your child. The dawn of understanding happens when your child begins to speak.

It is important to monitor the toddler behavior when you work from home. You have to constantly keep an eye on your toddler’s behavior during work hours. But, sometimes it is difficult to balance between the two because you may focus your attention on one thing at a time. What you have to do is how to manage the toddler behavior while making your work from home more enjoyable. You must learn how to balance spending time with your toddler and working from home.
